As Nature Intended

For the last 3 years or so I have had a growing interest in organic food.
The local grocery store is stocking organic fruits and vegetables more regularly – you may have noticed this in Woolworths and Coles.

Prices are decreasing as consumers are creating a market and demand for these products.

Organic flours, oats, museli bars and cereals are now the norm.

My favourite store in Canberra to buy organic produce is As Nature Intended at the Belconnen markets. Not only do they sell fresh produce they make a great pumpkin soup.

As Nature Intended serves wholesome breakfasts and lunches everyday, except Monday when they take a well earned rest.

This store also stocks organic and natural beauty products. They have the best range of ethical and organic cholcoate I have seen yet.

I recommend a visit.

There are many more of these organic stores in Canberra. You can also try – Mountain Creek Wholefoods in Griffith. I haven’t been but I hear its great and has a really big range – including books.

You can also arrange to have fresh organic produce delivered to your doorstep. I have done this for quite a while – and although a bit more expensive I believe the benefit for the planet, my health and the better taste in general are all worth it. Canberra Organics is a great company for this.

If your finding the price is prohibitive, perhaps you can make a small contribution by committing to replace one ordinary supermarket item with its organic equivalent. Bread is a great option. Aldi has some great organic products that are VERY affordable – pasta, sauces, yoghurt, milk, chicken.

I would love to hear from anyone who is also interested in organic and wholefoods in Canberra.

Please see the links page for access to the shops I have mentioned.
