My first vegetable garden

I’m hoping that this time tomorrow I’ll have a 2m x 2m raised wicking / worm farm garden bed up and planted. I have the frame put together (I bought it second hand, and have enough supplies for 3 more), I have builders plastic for holding the water, ag pipe, ag cloth etc. Just have to get dh to pick up the sand and soil for me, and well hopefully help me with shoveling said soil and sand. Oh and drill my drainage hole.

I have seedlings ready to go in as well as a tomato plant currently living in a pot, and already providing us with deliciousness. Off to the eco elves markets tonight for more inspiration

  1. Hi @ScrappyKat how is the wicking bed going? I did one last week in an old bucket for a spare tomato and some basil. The basil had a bit of a shock but it’s getting over it now and the tomato seems happy; but it’s early days yet so we’ll see how it goes.

  2. A few of the veges seem to be in shock with their transplant, so I’m giving it a water each afternoon till they perk up again. Other plants seem to be thriving, and already growing. So far I’m happy with how things are going.

  3. @ScrappyKat It’s good that this week has been so ‘cool’, so that they can settle in. I hope they’re all happy enough in their new home now that the weather’s warming up.
