Water tank overflow

January 10, 2013 in Blog

We put in some water tanks a few months back (just little ones, to catch the water off our porch roof). Next I want to run the overflow through the garden beds down the side of the house – since the tanks are so small (only 100litres each) it should flow over in really heavy rain and I don’t want to waste that water.

  1. Hm, I don’t think there is much you can do about it except for having a bigger water tank or a second one. Do you have the opportunity to connect it to your toilets? Then you could use the overflow for the toilet when there is heavy rain.

  2. Thanks @MinnieMouse2012. That’s a great idea about connecting the tank to the toilet. I’ll have to look into that. We do want to get another tank for some of the larger areas of roof, so we’ll definitely get the toilet connected when we do that.

By the way, @Boobok told me yesterday that if you put @ in front of someone’s username in a post it sends them an email to let them know you’ve responded to them. It works too!
