Just wanting to let the Carbon Challenge community know that the Canberra Environment Centre (CEC) is having their annual ‘Harvest Festival’ on Saturday 31st March, 12pm – 5pm at the CEC (cnr Lennox Crossing & Lawson Cres, Acton – by the National Museum)!

All about celebrating local and sustainable food choices & reducing food miles, it is a great place to get your sustainability on as there will be a range of eco-stallholders, local food producers, community information stalls and FREE sustainable living workshops.

Workshops include:

MAKING COMPOST TEA
Learn how to allow the benefits of compost to go further.

SEED BLOCKING
Learn how to give fruit and veg the best start possible to life and reduce their growing time.

HARVESTING THE SUN
Take a tour with Bill off the beaten grid and see how remote communities in Western Queensland are making their own electricity.

FOOD RESUCE
Currently around 30% of all food grown worldwide is wasted. Learn how OzHarvest help address this phenomenon.

BACKYARD BEEKEEPING
Learn about the value of bees to modern society and how to set-up a beehive or two in your backyard.

NO-DIG GARDENING DEMONSTRATION
No-Dig Gardens are the fastest and most delicious way to get home grown veggies on your dinner table! Learn how to set-one up in your garden.

CONSTRUCTING A WORM TOWER
Learn how to create an in-garden worm farm.

Workshops run for 45mins each, including question time.
