Tomatoes and strawberries

February 6, 2013 in Blog

Hi @quietpurpletiger, we’re picking tomatoes too, Romas mostly, for some reason they’re doing much better than the cherry tomatoes this year. They do taste so much better when you grow them yourself don’t they. It’s just a pity about our strawberries not doing anything. What’s your secret?

  1. No secret. I am totally new at gardening, this is my first attempted a growing anything really :)

The tomatoes are going great, had a few good strawberries until the birds started eating them. I got hubby to put some netting around them for me but since then the strawberries have been really tiny (but still taste good)

I don’t do anything other then water them and throw my green tea teabags in the veggie patch :)

  2. Hi @SRiver and @quietpurpletiger, our strawberries aren’t doing so well either – we got a couple in spring but after that they’re so small they’re not worth bothering with.

I’ve heard that strawberries like tea (and anything acid-y) so maybe green tea is the answer.
