    I’m getting my winter veg garden ready, but am going to be away for July & August. Any suggestions on the best vegs to plant that will be ready from late August on?

      Hi Kathryn

      You could try broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, endive, turnips and swedes?

    • Also late broad beans (would be ready in October), onions, garlic, shallots, rhubarb. I’ve also planted some year-round carrots, but I don’t know how much care they’d need while you’re away.

      Growing has really slowed down in the garden now, and these frosts will slow it down more.
      If you are growing in an open garden, you could try broad beans, peas, onions, shallots, spinach and coriander.
